    Fracture Symptoms

You might be doubtful if you have a fracture or just a minor injury. If you have a fracture, you will notice different symptoms depending on your age, health, severity of the injury, and location of the fracture.

When you have a broken bone, you will experience pain, swelling, bruising, extremely restricted movement, or inability to apply movement to the fractured area, among other symptoms. You might notice bleeding as well if you have a compound fracture. Moreover, you will not be able to apply weight to the fracture site and may notice some skin discoloration. A noticeable grating sensation with the bone might also take place. You can consult us for fracture treatment if you live in Houston!

Fracture Treatments Available at Our Houston Office

We provide proper professional treatments for fractured shoulders and knees. Our experts incorporate state-of-the-art technology and advanced approaches to make the procedure all the more comfortable for you. Once you trust our orthopedic surgeon and his dedicated team, they will not let you down. Here is an insight into the fracture treatment we provide in Houston:

    • Shoulder Fractures: If you break your collarbone (clavicle), humerus (upper arm bone), or scapula (shoulder blade), you will need treatment for a shoulder fracture. The treatment will depend on whether the bones are in the correct positions or if they have moved. We will proceed with conservative therapy if you have a non-displaced fracture, and this approach involves physical therapy, immobilization of the shoulder or arm, medications, icing, etc. In severe cases, though, we will proceed with surgical treatment for shoulder fractures!
    • Knee Fractures: If your knee cap (patella) breaks, you will have a fractured knee. Fortunately for you, our experts can provide quality care for fractured knees. We will make an accurate diagnosis and proceed with nonsurgical treatments if you have a stable fracture. Our orthopedic surgeon will recommend surgical treatment if your bones are displaced. We will proceed with a safe and efficient approach to restore your fractured bone!

    Questions About Fracture Treatment?

    Rehabilitation

Once your fracture treatment is complete, our orthopedist will recommend rest to keep your joint in position and limit movement while it heals. Physical therapy is needed to restore the mobility and full function of the affected joints. We might also suggest OTC pain medication, icing, and more to ensure you have a healthy recovery!

Dr. Barrett Brown is a very fine physician. He is also a friend. While he is a surgeon he said this about my horribly painful shoulder. First we will try an injection performed by our specialist using ultra sound. (It was painless.) If that does not relieve your pain we will do a cat scan to evaluate the rotator cuff.

Highly recommend Dr Brown!!! He took time to answer all questions without rushing. I called his office in severe pain and received the in- office MRI and Dr appt the next day then Dr Brown explained my condition and I was booked for surgery with their on-site hospital days later. The surgery went great and I was treated great by all staff. They have valet service as well. Thanks Dr Brown and all staff!!!

I have, unfortunately, been a frequent visitor to the Fondren Orthopedic clinic as I cannot seem to stay on my feet 😅. My most recent experience with Dr. Brown has been nothing short of excellent. From the initial exam to surgery and then the follow up and discussion of how I am healing have been extremely thorough and communication has been a 10. I would definitely recommend.
